  Some of our favorite memories were never captured in a photograph...but they live on in our hearts just the same. There are some memories that stay with us for a lifetime—not because we have beautiful photographs of them, but because they became part of who we are. When I was a little girl, my Uncle Roy loved to fish. I remember him and my dad heading to the lake together many times, always hoping for a good day on the water. One summer, Uncle Roy decided to take a boat full of girls fishing instead. There were about five of us—my cousins, a couple of their friends, and me. I was the youngest. I wish someone had taken a picture that day. There isn't a single photograph, but somehow I can still see it so clearly. None of us wanted to touch the worms. None of us wanted to take the fish off the hook. Last week I took a walk through a local park with my family. It wasn't a special vacation or a once-in-a-lifetime event. It was simply an ordinary afternoon. Children were laughing, sunlight filtered through the trees, little hands slipped into mine, and conversations with my grandsons filled the trail. Looking through scrapbook galleries this week, I found myself smiling at pages that captured these same kinds of moments. That's what I love about memory keeping.   Sometimes the ordinary moments become the stories we cherish most . Some of my favorite family memories don't come from vacations or milestone celebrations. They come from ordinary afternoons. A few weeks ago, we spent the day exploring a wooded trail with our family. There wasn't a schedule to keep or a special event to celebrate. We simply walked together, talked, climbed over rocks, discovered little places along the path, and enjoyed being outside. Looking back through the photos afterward, I realized something. Very few of them are what most people would call "perfect." There are pictures from behind as we walked down the trail. One of the kids is looking the wrong way. Water bottles are dangling from our hands. Shoes are dusty. Hair isn't perfectly in place. And yet... Those are the photographs that make me smile the most. Because they tell the truth.  Been taking a course in Procreate called "Jump Start Your Creativity".  It has been a lot of fun and the idea is to start getting into the habit of drawing if not everyday, a few times a week at least.  I often feel intimidated sharing my drawing because I have never felt very good at it.  BUT, I do enjoy doing it and so I'm breaking out of my "comfort" zone and just sharing with you what I've been doing.  I posted in early June after I completed the first week of the course. I started the 2nd week right away, but "life happened", and I got away from doing it.  So I just finished week 2 last week.  It was "plant week".  Here is my progress tracker... and then I will also share the drawings up close. :)  The fun things that I learned in week 2 were how to use blend modes more and using the liquify tool to make shapes.  Also learned more about adding texture and patterns to the drawings. Summer is Almost Over! Wow!  I can't believe it.  Seems like school was just getting out and we were all looking forward to a summer break.  Here where we live, kids are headed back to school this week. Our daughter that still lives at home, will be Homeschooling for her last year!  I know she is looking forward to graduation in the Spring. I will have to be honest and say, I am too! Although it will be strange to not have any kids in "school". I have been working away on designing and also on learning new things... My August Buffet released today and I have a couple more really fun kits that are set to release on the 4th and the 11th.
